Rebuild Your Vision – Naturally

Natural vision therapy is still not as popular as the mainstream approach, but it is becoming a little more commonplace. Most optometrists and ophthalmologists rely solely on glasses, contact lenses and corrective surgery, rather than taking a more holistic approach.

The things that affect your eyesight are the same as those that affect the rest of your body. Your body needs nourishment, water, regular movement and rest. Your eyes need those same things.

Rebuild Your Vision – Naturally

If you aren’t drinking enough water, your eyes will become dry and your sight will deteriorate. Regular use of electronic equipment, such as computer screens and similar devices, increases the likelihood that your eyes will become dehydrated. Constant computer use requires constant replenishment of the body’s fluids. Drinking plain water is the best way to rehydrate.

Most holistic approaches to natural vision therapy include the use of dietary supplements. Regardless of how healthy you may feel that your current trial pack diet is, supplementation can be highly beneficial. Some of the essential nutrients for eye health include the common antioxidant vitamins A, C and E.

Other nutrients are less common, rarely found in the typical Western diet. They include lutein and zeaxanthin, which help prevent cataracts and macular degeneration; glutathione, which helps prevent glaucoma and diseases of the retina; and gingko biloba, which increases blood flow to the retina and improves visual acuity.

People notice that when they start increasing water and nutrient intake, they begin to feel better, in general. That is one of the goals of holistic medicine, to treat the body as a whole and improve the condition of the entire body. So, you can think of natural vision therapy as a way to improve your overall health.

Regular movement of the eyes is something that many people never think about. Even people that spend lots of time working out or playing sports are often unaware of how little they actually move their eyes. They don’t pay attention to what they are seeing. Sight is not a passive activity.

When you go out for a walk, look at the leaves on the trees, the birds in the air, the passing cars or anything else that interests you. Focus on these things. Pick up a stone and look at the details in it. Then look at something far away. Natural vision therapy includes a number of different activities that exercise the eyes. You may be surprised at the difference it makes.
