<p><strong>Many of our  vision problems arise because:</strong></p>
<p>1 – The doctors prescribe “crutches” every time our sight gets weaker, instead of  therapy to improve our vision.  When we get weaker ourselves, we don’t use crutches, we exercise!</p>
<p>2 – The life we live today causes us to “focus” for hours and hours in one spot, like computers, TVs, and video games.  Our eyes are NOT meant to stare at one small area for hours at a time.  We need to learn how to keep our vision from detiororating in todays lifestyle.</p>
<p>It only takes about 15- 20 minutes a day of eye exercises to help improve and maintain our vision.  It’s not hard to do, but, you do need to try and be consistent.</p>
<p>And, IT WORKS.  I know cause I do it myself.  My night vision has improved to the point I can now drive on the highway at night.  I don’t like to, but I can <img class="wp-smiley" src="http://www.natural-vision-therapy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/wpid-iconsmile.gif" alt=":)" /></p>

<P>More good fat, less bad, reduces age-related macular degeneration risk Two reports published in the May, 2009 issue of the American Medical Association journal Archives of Ophthalmology reveal a protective effect for omega-3 fatty acids, fish, nuts and olive oil, and an adverse effect for trans fatty acids, on the risk of developing age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a leading cause of vision loss in older individuals.</P><br />
<P>We recommended supplementing daily with a<BR><A onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.naturaleyecare.com/idevaffiliate/idevaffiliate.php?id=456&amp;keyword=Omega3&amp;custom=50');" href="http://www.naturaleyecare.com/idevaffiliate/idevaffiliate.php?id=456&amp;keyword=Omega3&amp;custom=50">high grade fish oil such as Carlsons Fish Oil</A></EM></P><br />
<P>In the first study, Jennifer S.L. Tan, MBBS, BE at the University of Sydney, Australia and her colleagues evaluated data from 2,454 participants in the Blue Mountains Eye Study of men and women aged 49 and older. Those who consumed one serving of fish per week were shown to have a 31 percent lower adjusted risk of developing early AMD compared with those who consumed less.</P><br />
<P>In the second article, Elaine W. T. Chong, MD, PhD, of the Centre for Eye Research Australia and her associates evaluated data from 6,734 men and women aged 58 to 69 who participated in the Melbourne Collaborative Cohort Study. Dietary questionnaires completed between 1990 and 1994 were analyzed for the intake of various foods and individual fatty acids.</P><br />
<P>Follow up examinations conducted between 2003 and 2006 detected 2,872 cases of early age-related macular degeneration and 88 cases of late disease.<BR>A high intake of trans-unsaturated fats was associated with a significant increase in late macular degeneration, with those whose intake was categorized as among the top 25 percent of participants having a 76 percent greater risk than those whose intake was among the lowest fourth.</P><br />
<P>Olive oil emerged as protective against  no   late disease. When those who reported consuming at least 100 milliliters per week olive oil were compared with those who consumed less than 1 milliliter per week, they were found to have a 52 percent lower risk of late AMD.</P><br />
<P>For early AMD, those whose omega-3 fatty acid intake was among the top 25 percent had a 15 percent lower risk compared with those whose intake was among the lowest quarter.</P><br />
<P>Trans fatty acids increase cholesterol levels and inflammation, both of which affect the eyes’ blood vessels, while omega-3 fatty acids may help protect the retina. Although the main fats contained in olive oil were not associated with macular degeneration risk, the oil contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds that could be protective. “A diet low in trans-unsaturated fat and rich in omega-3 fatty acids and olive oil may reduce the risk of AMD,” the authors conclude.</P><span id="more-405"></span><br />

<p>A number of recent studies indicate that a diet high in omega-3 fatty acids could help prevent age-related macular degeneration.</p>

<p>A diet high in omega-3 fatty acids has been found to protect against a variety of diseases including atherosclerosis and Alzheimer’s disease. Retrospective studies have suggested that diets high in fish oil or omega-3 fatty acids may also contribute to protection against age-related macular degeneration.</p>
<p>A group of researchers led by Dr. Chi-Chao Chan at the National Eye Institute examined the direct effect of omega-3 fatty acids on a mouse model of age-related  5mg tablets  macular degeneration. A diet with high levels of omega-3 fatty acids resulted in slower lesion progression, with improvement in some lesions. These mice had lower levels of inflammatory molecules and higher levels of anti-inflammatory molecules, which may explain this protective effect.</p>
<p><span id="more-399"></span>The researchers suggest that “a diet enriched in EPA and DHA can reduce the progression of retinal lesions in their mouse model of age-related macular degeneration” and that “the results in these mice are in line with the epidemiological studies of age-related macular degeneration risk reduction by long chain n-3 fatty acids.” The results “further provide the scientific basis for the application of omega-3 fatty acids and their biologically active derivatives in the prevention and treatment of age-related macular degeneration.”</p>

The International Diabetes Federation estimated in 2006 that the disease affected a staggering 246 million people worldwide, with 46% of those affected in the 40-59 age group. <p>There are two predominant types of diabetes. In Type 1, the immune system destroys the cells in the pancreas that make insulin. In Type 2, which accounts for an estimated 90% to 95% of all cases, the body’s cells are not sufficiently receptive to insulin, or the pancreas makes too little of it, or both.</P><br />

<p>When you wear corrective lenses,  contacts or glasses, then the muscles of your eye can only be can only  be resting when you are looking at an object a minimum of about 20 feet  away. <p>In order to improve our vision, we have been trying out some eye  exercises and have found that they are pretty effective. From time to time,  we run across individuals that claim these exercises that do not do any good.  Maybe that is because they do not try the correct exercises? If you are looking  for eye  vision improvement exercises, then we would like for you to read this  article. The previous article you read may have been written by someone that  used the wrong exercises, so give it a chance and read this article.</p>
<p><span id="more-247"></span>The first exercise we have for you involves sitting comfortably in front of a  window. Get a sticker, or a piece of tape that is black in color. Start by  focusing on the sticker for about twenty seconds, then look out the window for  twenty seconds. Keep alternating between those two.</p>
<p>Next is the blinking exercise. This is an exercise that is overlooked a lot,  but it is simple to use, Every three to four seconds, just blink your eyes. You  can do this while you are writing or you may choose to sit somewhere comfortable  and relax to do this. The choice is up to you.</p>
<p>Write numbers and letters that are different sizes on a soccer ball, kickball  and softball. Hang them from the ceiling on a string and give them a knock in  any direction you choose. When it swings, call out the numbers and letters you  see. This is a simple technique that does not involve much.</p>
<p>This exercise involves following your thumb. A couple of times throughout the  day, hold up your thumbs in front of you about an arm&#8217;s length away and move  them in circles, X&#8217;s and crosses. You can use in and out motions as well.  Without moving your head, follow your thumb.</p>
<p>As you see, there are many vision improvement exercises that you can use.  Believe it or not, there are even more exercises than this.
